A message from the Chief Nursing Executive:
At Methodist Healthcare, we are highly committed to hiring and retaining the best nurses in the area. My team of Chief Nursing Officers, Nurse Directors, and Nurse Managers offer our nurses the opportunity to enhance their professional development. I strive to provide leadership that inspires nurses to be highly engaged and passionate about their delivery of care to their patients. Our nurses are represented in each hospital by a Shared Governance Council that empowers bedside nurses to have the opportunity to contribute to decisions that affect patient care. Customer satisfaction is something that we take very seriously. Our goal is to equip our staff to provide Methodist Excellence in all areas of nursing by promoting satisfaction with patients, physicians and our community. Our nurses are responsible and accountable for providing safe patient care utilizing evidence-based principles and collaborating with physicians to achieve top percentile patient outcomes. We currently utilize the Magnet Journey to guide many of the nursing process improvements, with the focus being to enhance patient care. Our leadership is involved in planning and budgeting staffing, education, orientation and career opportunities. Our nursing staff participates in multidisciplinary teams to reduce cost through care-based cost management. We control the largest percentage of market share in the San Antonio area. This requires us to be well organized and strategic with recruitment, retention, succession planning, scheduling and professional development of our nurses.
