Unit ClerksUnit Clerks, sometimes called Unit Secretaries, handle important clerical and administrative tasks for a hospital unit. They assemble and file electronic patient records for easy access, ordering and delivery of supplies as directed by doctors and nurses. They also answer telephones and guide patients and visitors with a smile. Unit clerks record staffing information and compile attendance records as well. Unit Clerks and are vital to a well-run unit and applicants are required to have one year of secretarial experience, preferably in a medical setting. Patient Care AssistantsPatient Care Assistants (PCAs), sometimes called Patient Care Technicians, provide direct patient care in our Methodist Healthcare facilities in all areas of practice. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, our PCA’s provide hands on, one-on-one patient care, improving quality of stay and speed of healing for patients of all ages. Working as a patient care assistant can be a stepping-stone to a nursing career. These positions require an active CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) license, (or) current EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) license, (or) completion of at least one semester of a Nursing Degree program.
