A Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) provides a way to pay for certain health care expenses with before-tax dollars. Covered expenses include co-pays, deductibles, prescriptions, any dozens of other health-related items not covered by a health insurance plan. The advantage is that you will report less taxable income, contributing up to $5000 per year, which means you save money. Caring for your kiddos. A Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) provides a way to pay for eligible expenses to care for children under age 13 or other dependents in need of full-time care. You can contribute up to $5000 of pre-tax funds per year. This adds up to more savings for you. Let your 401(k) work for you. The 401(k) plan is tax deferred income before taxes, so you’re not paying taxes on savings contributions to the plan or its earnings until the funds are withdrawn. You can contribute from 1 percent to 50 percent of your pre-tax earnings up to the IRS maximum. Methodist will match your contributions up to 100 percent of the first 3 percent that you save, and you’re fully vested after six years of service. Secure your life.
