Maintains competence in hospital and Medical Office Building (MOB) HVAC controls and systems. Accurately troubleshoots intricate pneumatic and digital HVAC Controls and completes timely repairs, adjustments, and operational verification of all control components of the HVAC systems. Ensures facility energy effectiveness without compromising environmental considerations.
Consistently performs the required HVAC controls preventive maintenance. Conducts seasonal evaluations and adjustments of all aspects of automatic temperature controls. Continuously evaluates the overall effectiveness of the programs and modifies as needed to ensure desired outcomes. Demonstrates desired outcomes and enhances operational characteristics.
Applies knowledge of air filtration technology in the healthcare environment and maintains airflow characteristics required in a healthcare environment. Maintains current knowledge in NFPA90A, UBC and IBC codes for Air Conditioning and Ventilating Systems for Healthcare. Demonstrates cognizance and urgency with maintaining positive and negative airflow pressure differentials for operating rooms, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) environments and negative pressure rooms utilized for communicable diseases.
Ensures continued functional operation of HVAC systems and associated equipment through assisting in the diagnosis of equipment failures and restoration. Mentors co-workers as directed.
Monitors operations data presented by gauges, operation data panel, EMCS, calculations, recording data in log book. Initiates suitable operational changes as shown by this data and operation of all plant machinery in normal / emergency mode. Maintains constant awareness and readiness of emergency operations needs and backup processes.
Works professionally with outside control service companies on existing systems to ensure they conform with hospital and regulatory agency standards. Participates in review of design and commissioning of all new expansions to our control systems to ensure designed operational performance.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
Preferred: Four (4) 4 year degree; will consider extensive technical training in EMCS systems and HVAC. Prefer five (5) years experience in a related job, with three years experience in a healthcare environment.
