Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking a Director of Transport Services for Methodist Children’s Hospital who is responsible for the coordination of the department operations for all shifts and facilities. In this leadership role, the Director of Transport promotes collaboration among all members of the interdisciplinary team, is a resource person to the patient care team, and facilitates patient care delivery and timeliness of service. The Director of Transport role models and promotes the I-Care Values while providing for an optimal patient care and work environment. She/ he promotes excellent customer service and prevents and/ or resolves conflict. **THIS POSITION IS FULL-TIME MONDAY-FRIDAY / 40 HOUR WORKWEEK**

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Directs and provides guidance and direction to first line supervisors/charge personnel including interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivation of employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for meeting unit productivity targets.
  • Coordinates, directs, assesses, modifies and formulates an appropriate staff assignment plan that addresses acuity, competency of staff and staff mix of licensed staff.
  • Responsible for organizing, directing, teaching and evaluating total nursing care within area of responsibility, including ensuring adequate staffing to ensure quality patient care. Manages and plans for department /nursing activities including supervising the treatment and care of the patients providing guidance and direction.
  • Serves as primary resource for the nursing department.
  • Demonstrates successful conflict resolution in a timely manner with patients, families and other healthcare team members.
  • Responsible for projects/processes that are essential to the success of the nursing department including: employee performance diaries, maintain statistical data, time and attendance, etc
  • Participates in and monitors the acquisition, utilization and evaluation of supplies and equipment.
  • Identifies and analyzes potential and actual conflict situations, provides leadership toward resolution and keeps facility administration and COO informed of patient care needs and conflicts. Immediately reports any equipment malfunctions to facility COO.

 What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health administration, business or related field of study required.
  • Three (3) years of job-specific experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Master’s Degree in business administration or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Current Texas license Registered Nurse Texas license preferred.

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

Since opening in 1998 as the first and only hospital in San Antonio and South Texas designed and built just for children, Methodist Children’s Hospital has set the standard for treating the children of South and Central Texas. The hospital continues to lead the region in treating severely ill children, those with complex and chronic medical diagnoses, by providing the most sub-specialized care available. Our new tower is part of a landmark expansion which will increase the footprint of the Methodist Hospital campus by 445,000 square feet.

The new tower includes 150 rooms and a dedicated children’s imaging department with new, state-of-the art technology. The 94-bed neonatal intensive care unit, still the region’s largest, has board-certified neonatologists in-house 24/7 and is the city’s only Texas Department of Health-designated Level 4 neonatal intensive care unit.
