The Regulatory Compliance Coordinator is responsible for establishing and implementing processes to support the hospital’s survey readiness program. Responsibility includes ongoing collaboration with staff at all levels in the organization to efficiently and effectively evaluate, modify, and implement processes in order to sustain and/or improve regulatory compliance.

 

In this role, Regulatory Compliance Coordinator will:

  • Collaborates with department directors and senior management establishing continuous compliance/survey readiness across the hospital by leading, coordinating, and supporting regulatory survey activities. Engages staff leaders for strategic developments TO achieve and sustain regulatory compliance.
  • Serves as the hospital’s liaison and point of contact for regulatory agencies and surveyors.
  • Leads the development and implementation of continual survey readiness tracers and mock surveys. Evaluates compliance with regulatory standards by conducting environmental rounds and clinical tracers of all inpatient and outpatient service areas.
  • Supports the Clinical Outcomes Director/VP with coordination of regulatory surveys conducted by The Joint Commission, Texas Department of State Health Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, HCA Quality Review System and other regulatory agencies.
  • Manages post-survey activity including the development of post-survey responses and action plans. Prepares correspondence and maintains records relating to regulatory surveys.
  • Oversees the hospital’s CART and RAFT teams. Leads and coordinates organized teams and/or a survey readiness committee.
  • Serves/participates on other hospital committees and/or task force related to accreditation-regulatory compliance; reports on standards or survey activity.
  • Reviews, develops and implements policies and procedures related to regulatory issues. Provides policy input and feedback from a regulatory standard perspective.
  • Communicates regulatory compliance issues to the organization’s leadership timely.
  • Utilizes assessment tools that monitors status of continued readiness, i.e. The Joint Commission Accreditation Management Program (AMP) software. Facilitates completion of the hospital’s proactive self-assessment (PPR).
  • Assists department leadership with other Quality projects or initiatives as needed, including but not limited to peer review, mortalities reviews, clinical contracts and data analysis/reporting.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field or minimum eight years of hospital Quality or Regulatory experience is required
  • Experience: Minimum of three years in healthcare regulatory compliance. Experience in utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, electronic healthcare records/systems and databases required.
  • Preferred: Minimum of three years in healthcare regulatory compliance with an inclusion of two years of performance improvement activities.

  • ·Required: If a nurse, maintain current Texas State nurse licensure.
