Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking an Occupational Therapist Assistant that will provide patient care as established in the plan of care under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapist Assistant will assist with making patient schedules, providing patient education, and supervision of the rehab aide.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • You will provide patient care, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, for patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes, with consideration given to patient’s age and development.
  • You will inform the Occupational Therapist of changes in the patient’s status, progress or lack of progress toward anticipated goals and expected outcomes, and the need for reevaluation and/or revision of plan of care when indicated.
  • You will document treatments, charges, and discharge summaries in a manner which supports skilled therapeutic necessity and the charges incurred, in a concise and timely manner.
  • You will supervise the daily activities of the rehab aide assisting in the provision of patient care to facilitate desired changes in patient function toward stated goals.
  • You will interact and confer with a variety of professionals including physicians, nurses, case management, PT’s and SLP’s optimize customer service and care.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Associates degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Must be licensed as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
  • Membership in TOTA, preferred
  • Prefer one or more years of experience in Occupational Therapy Setting: Acute, Inpatient Rehab, Pediatrics, Outpatient as appropriate

The hospital is home to the Texas Transplant Institute. We are the largest living donor kidney transplant program in the US. In 2019 the center reached a major milestone by performing 231 living donor kidney transplants in a single year. This set a new national record, 65 more transplants than the second center on the list. This is acknowledged in the United Network of Organ Sharing database.
