Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking a Facility Director of Communications who reports to the MHS AVP, Corporate Communications with a dotted line to the assigned facility CEO. The Director, Communications proactively plans and executes programs designed to meet System communications objectives in accordance with hospital and System strategic plans. This is accomplished through the use of internal and external communications, social media, and key service line initiatives. In addition, they drive MHS community and customer engagement to heighten MHS positive reputation within the community. What You Will Do In Your Role:
- Serves as lead for all PR and communications, as well as an advisor of key marketing initiatives for overall System, hospital services, specific service lines and special projects.
- Works closely with MHS AVP, Communications to design specific facility and communication plans, and provides input to AVP, Marketing Ops to develop marketing plans, based on MHS business objectives.
- Works closely with Manager of Community Affairs to implement MHS outreach initiatives (such as Hope Fund, runs, walks, etc) and community partnership activities as well as design and implementation of facility Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP).
- Seeks out hospital stories to drive positive perception of facilities, programs and people for internal efforts and for earned media efforts.
- Responsible for advising facility CEO of personal brand image, as well as support CEO communications by writing scripts/emails and assisting with video messages.
- Supports nursing communications in collaboration with facility CNO.
- Advises and supports communications strategies for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
- Responsible for the development of employee-facing messaging (to include programming for back-of-house monitors), to drive culture and awareness, excluding HR-related information.
- Provides input to Director, Creative Services to develop materials needed in print, online, digital and video marketing collateral and promotions.
- Works with Director, Digital and Integrated Marketing to develop editorial social media calendar, blogs and web content and approves facility-specific posts.
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, English, communications, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position that required media relations and event planning.
- Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate and present to internal audiences, physicians, media, administration and outside vendors.
- Must have 5 years (intermediate) experience in Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint to include organization-wide communications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
