Job Summary and Qualifications
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:
1. Education:
· Graduate of Radiologic Sciences Program
· Associate of Sciences or higher
2. Experience:
· Three Year minimum experience in Radiology
3. Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service
line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population
served (if applicable).
Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:
1. Required:
· ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist)
Beginning 9/2021 new hires must obtain ARRT(VI) within one year of hire.
· Texas Medical Board Licensed
· Basic Life Support (BLS)
2. Preferred:
· Previous experience in Interventional Radiology
· Experience with Siemens Interventional Systems
Essential Job Functions:
1. Performs Interventional Radiologic procedures (primarily Angiography) under the direction of a physician, utilizing ionizing radiation and other diagnostic methods: Assist the physician as required and responsible for processing all documentation.
1. Demonstrate competency in all diagnostic, standard and neurological Interventional Radiology procedures, procedural scrub, room preparation and setup to include power injector.
2. Follows established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed radiologist and/or vascular surgeon.
3. Competency in assisting with complex Invasive Vascular and Therapeutic Imaging procedures including but not limited to diagnostic body, neuro angiography, carotid stenting, embolization, stroke intervention and cerebral aneurysms.
4. Participate in on-call schedule and for neurological cases must live within 30 minutes of the hospital to meet required response time.
5. Competency in assisting cardiac surgeon(s) with radiology guided cardiac procedures to include but not limited to TEVAR procedures.
6. Holding pressure and placement of closure devices. Operation of ultrasound machine, operation and processing of 3D imaging. Assisting in preparation of embolic material for embolization, various catheters, angioplasty balloons, vascular stents and coils.
Additional Job Functions:
1. May have access to radiopharmaceuticals, contrast agents and other non-controlled medications as appropriate to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
2. May be called upon to physical witness and/or inventory controlled substances with another authorized individual.
3. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
4. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
5. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
6. Completes other duties as assigned.
