Responsible for coordinating performance improvement activities in concert with the hospital(s) Mission, Vision and Values, Code of Conduct and Strategic Plan.

In this role, Coordinator:

  • Measures, analyzes, generates and presents reports on healthcare processes and patient outcomes to identify and prioritize areas for improvement.
  • Coordinates performance improvement activities focused on specific patient service lines or nursing/medical and/or organizational quality initiatives through the use of specific benchmarks and evidence-based practices. Participates in the evaluation of the impact of improvement activities.
  • Facilitates sentinel event investigations and root cause analysis activities to reduce risk and increase patient safety. Facilitates the peer review process as indicated.
  • Coordinates the review of, and collaborates with Risk Management on, correspondence related to quality of care issues from outside the organization.
  • Participates in efforts to establish and maintain organizational readiness to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Educates staff and physicians regarding performance improvement processes/initiatives and patient safety.
  • Provides orientation to hospital staff on Risk and Quality Management.
  • Serves on MHS and Nursing Committees as assigned
  • Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals
  • Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
  • Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or related healthcare degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical experience in a hospital setting required.
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit, which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related healthcare field.
  • Preferred Experience: Quality Management, regulatory compliance, or TQM/CQI.
  • Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations: 1. Required: N/A 2. Preferred: CPHQ certification
