Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking a Director of Transplant Finance for Methodist Hospital - Specialty & Transplant who is responsible for managing the revenue based accounting operations for Texas Transplant Institute (a Program of Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital) and interfacing with physician practice organizations as directed. Areas of responsibility include management of the following areas for Transplant Services; Authorization/Verification process on all Kidney/Liver accounts and supporting the respective reimbursement operations through Shared Service Center, third party administrator– Transplant Global Managed Care, Medicare Cost Reporting for Transplant Services, Pre, Post and Global physician and facility contracting for Transplant services and human resources at Department level.   We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. **This person will be responsible for managing authorization verifications for the Cellular Therapy Program / Cancer & Oncology**

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • Manages Transplant Finance Team personnel to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for employee’s output and conduct. Conducts feedbacks of supervised employees in a timely manner and follows human resource operations to ensure payroll is accurate, benefits are managed according to employee eligibility and elections and that all personnel files are maintained and updated annually.

  • Directs Transplant Global Managed Care Finance Team including but not limited to tracking of Global Transplant patients for kidney and liver billing and collections. Act as third party administrator for the hospital under Global Managed Care Transplant payor contracts, maintaining and processing payable invoices for all Global providers during the applicable phases and distributing facility funds asas needed. Participate in month end accounting processes with Division office for related transplant accruals and bank reconciliations
  • Directs, manages and monitors Transplant Financial Coordinators for Liver and Kidney programs to ensure insurance authorizations are completed and documented. Coordinate with Transplant Clinic and Insurance Case Managers to ensure insurance verifications are appropriate and done efficiently. Participate in meetings such as DMAT and Transplant Selection Committees to reduce transplant denials and underpayments.
  • Responsible for overseeing Medicare Cost Reporting data for Transplant Services including 100% participation of Transplant staff; submission of data to HCA reimbursement, maintaining documentation for each Transplant during Medicare Cost Reporting year including but not limited to billing and reimbursement, acquisition costs, tissue typing, Donor charges and transportation. Must maintain a working relationship with HCA reimbursement regarding current and accurate adherence to CMS rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for keeping up with latest insurance requirements for transplant and being able to develop strategies for maximizing transplant reimbursement.
  • Directs assigned accounting functions for Transplant pre services, and Transplants accounts to ensure goals and objectives are met. Accounting functions include, but are not limited to, managing tranplant invoices/receivables, working closely with SSC to review monthly Transplant AR financial reports to effect appropriate and timely payment under terms of payor contracts. Determine areas for improvement and/or enhancement on a monthly basis

What qualifications you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or 3-5 years management experience working in patient access, insurance verification, or physician practice required.
