Job Summary and Qualifications

General Statement of Duties:

The Linen Service Associate provides safe and timely linen support for neonatal as well as adult patients. The Linen Service Associate is responsible for delivering clean linen to the various Hospital departments on a daily basis in compliance with JCAHO and OSHA standards. This employee is also responsible for recording the quantities of the linen delivered and also possibly utilizing the patching machine and sewing machine to repair torn linen.

Essential Job Functions:

· Responsible for delivering clean linen and possibly makes repairs to torn linen.

· Loan clean linen carts and deliver to units.

· Record quantities of linen delivered and received.

· Bring empty linen carts from departments to clean linen room

· Collect torn linen and pull out for rags or donation to charitable organizations.

· Stamps all new linens received and possibly repairs linen items using sewing machine or patching machine.

 

Education:

Ability to read and write.

Interrelationships:

    The Linen Services Associate must be able to identify the various items of Hospital linen. Must be able to quickly identify and count linen items to insure rapid and efficient loading of linen carts. Must be able to evaluate linen items for reparability. Must be able to operate sewing and marking and patching machines. Must be able to safely handle large bundles of linen and safely maneuver large linen carts through the Hospital. Must know safety precautions to be used while working in linen service. Must maintain inventory control and be knowledgeable in cost containment. Must display initiative, resourcefulness, independent judgement and interact well with others.

    This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

    Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital has been nationally recognized for its record setting kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs. The hospital is home to the Texas Transplant Institute. We are the largest living donor kidney transplant program in the US. In 2019 the center reached a major milestone by performing 231 living donor kidney transplants in a single year. This set a new national record, 65 more transplants than the second center on the list. This is acknowledged in the United Network of Organ Sharing database.
