Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing routine and complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis and treatment of disease, analyzing and assuming accountability for accurate test results, maintenance of complicated instruments, and monitoring quality control and quality assurance programs.
In this role, the Laboratory Technician will:
- May monitor quality control for a specific instrument or methodology and may prepare documents for pathologist review; sends and reviews reports, may perform portions of method validation studies.
- Participates in quality assurance monitors.
- Validates competency of co-workers.
- Assists in preparation for inspections by regulatory agencies.
- Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
- Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
- Must learn to comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
- Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.

Requirements:
- Minimum Education and Experience: A. Associates Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489, with clinical laboratory experience preferred.
