Job Summary and Qualifications
The Ultrasound Technologist (sonographer) performs diagnostic procedures utilizing a background in anatomy, physiology, physics and instrumentation to provide technical information to aid the physician. The sonographer will demonstrate and maintain technical skills needed to perform ultrasound procedures on the population(s) served by the department and may include abdominal, OB/GYN, venous Doppler, small parts, pediatrics (where applicable) and invasive exams. In addition, the sonographer will maintain department supplies and equipment. He/she participates in the quality control of the ultrasound department.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Associate Degree or higher
- Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or Ultrasonographer, or Registered Vascular Technician (RVT), or Sonography, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer
- No experience required but two (2) years of experience as a full-time ultrasound technologist in a hospital or diagnostic imaging clinic preferred.
Minimum License, Certificates or Registrations Required:
- New Hires with experience: Must have within 6 months of hire date.
- New Hires and New Grads - (graduated in the last 12 months): Must have within 18 months of hire date.
- Hires prior to October 1, 2011 of Methodist Hospital: Must obtain registry/certification by July 1, 2012.
- Hires prior to October 1, 2011 of Methodist Specialty & Transplant, Metropolitan Methodist, Northeast Methodist, Methodist Texsan, Methodist Stone Oak or Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Hospitals: Must obtain registry by October 1, 2012.
Methodist ER Nacogdoches serves the Northeast and surrounding area. We are a 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 5,808 square-foot facility features 7 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services such as radiology, a full-service laboratory and telemetry. We offer the benefit of immediate intervention for emergencies. In these cases, treatment time is critical. We provide 24-hour monitoring and testing of patients, such as chest pain cases. Our compassionate team of medical professionals work to stabilize critical patients and transport, should they need hospitalization, to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio.
