Methodist Boerne Emergency Center, a department of Methodist Hospital, serves Boerne and the surrounding communities with our 24/7 freestanding emergency center, the first its kind in South and Central Texas. The most common complaints among patients visiting us are: chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, extremity injuries, fever, motor vehicle accidents, back pain, pregnancy complaints, skin infections, animal bites, pediatric illness and lacerations. Our compassionate team of medical professionals works to stabilize critical patients experiencing: acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, stroke, subarachnoid bleed, trauma (including amputations), overdose, spinal cord injuries, cardiac arrhythmias, seizures, pulmonary embolus and pneumothorax. After stabilization, the patient is transported to a Methodist hospital in San Antonio. Seeking a Nursing Support Multi-Skilled individual to join our team performing a variety of delegated tasks under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) in a complementary and assistive role through functioning in a combination of two or more of the following positions: Patient Care Assistant, Unit Clerk and/or Cardiac Monitor Tech.  He/she assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance to the individual’s training, competence and skill, hospital policies and procedures and the Texas Board of Nursing rules for delegated nursing tasks to unlicensed personnel (Rule 224.6). Consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well organized, adequately stocked and safe patient environment.  

What you will do in this role

  • Under the supervision of the RN, performs delegated activities as directed and ordered in accordance with one’s training, competence and skill and with Hospital policies, procedures and Methodist Excellence.

  • Signs all applicable job descriptions of positions performed and consistently fulfills the essential job functions of those positions.

  • Maintains training, competence and skill for all applicable nursing support positions performed.

  • Is consistently flexible to perform in the roles needed by the department/facility. 


Employees in this position will function in a minimum of two and no more than three of the following nursing support job functions.  

 1. Unit Secretary

 2. Cardiac Monitor Tech

 3. Patient Care Assistant 


Education and Qualifications you will need:

Individuals must meet the education, experience and license/certification/registration requirements for each job function performed. 

  • PCA & Unit Secretary
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • C.N.A. certification OR E.M.T. certification is preferred
    • C.N.A. or E.M.T. program education is preferred
  • PCA & Cardiac Monitor Tech:
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • C.N.A. certification OR E.M.T. certification is preferred
    • C.N.A. or E.M.T. program education is preferred
  • Unit Secretary & Cardiac Monitor Tech:
    • High school graduate or equivalent
  • PCA & Unit Secretary & Cardiac Monitor Tech:
    • High school graduate or equivalent
    • C.N.A. certification OR E.M.T. certification is preferred
    • C.N.A. or E.M.T. program education is preferred

Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by  service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable) for each job function performed.
