Your Role: Business Intelligence Developer II
The BI Developer II is a key technical role within the Strategic Planning department of MHS. This role is responsible for designing, developing, testing and deploying our business intelligence solutions across the enterprise. This goal will be achieved by working with cross-functional business teams and utilizing Microstrategy, Tableau, Qlikview, Business Objects, the HCA Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), MHS SQL farm system, and other data source systems and applications. The BI Developer II is responsible for application creation, administrative tasks, supporting dashboard and report solutions, and database development to include Strategic Planning growth initiatives, and general data and analytics needs of the MHS division. The BI Developer II will collaborate with business owners, data analysts, project managers, service line leaders, and strategy, operational, and administrative stakeholders. The BI Developer II will ensure the effective design, build, deployment, documentation, and maintenance of relational and multidimensional databases to support end-user processes. This role will support and is responsible for routine and Ad Hoc Data and Analytics reporting, report configuration, report distribution, database development, and administration for BI throughout the organization.
Apply the fundamental concepts and principles gained through experience to solve a range of straightforward problems and moderately complex problems. This requires an ongoing effort learning the process of product development and delivery, including materials development, product publication to end-users, collateral development and sharing, and ongoing support requirement definitions while learning and abiding by corporate data governance guidance.
Participate in and take a leadership role in more than one aspect of the BI development lifecycle from requirements gathering to data modeling to report development to include presenting data informally and formally to facilitate discussion regarding data visualizations and reports.
Provide assistance for BI solutions, including: promotions, QA, engaging in joint-development with application development teams, assisting user adoption, documenting and communicating standards and procedures.
Produce technical solution designs that will meet business requirements in a manner consistent with Company and industry standards, which contains data modeling and loading as required by the BI Tool in use.
Learn the importance of different aspects of HCA/MHS health care operations and demonstrate that understanding through the development and presentation of new reports and dashboards. The developer must continuously train on other Business Intelligence tools and database platforms such as Business Objects, Arcplan, Integration Services, Microsoft Analysis Services, SQL Reporting Services, Microstrategy, Tableau Desktop & Server, Qlik Tech products SQL Server, Teradata, and SharePoint Performance Portal and KPI environment, etc.
Engage with business leadership and analysts to deeply understand the business needs related to reporting and visualization efforts and actively mentor other teams to learn technical skills and integrate solutions where additional data and subject expertise is required. Establish and build a core competency in the process of product delivery, including materials development, product publication to end-users, collateral development and sharing, and ongoing support requirements definition
3 years of development experience with solid understanding of relational and multi-dimensional database systems and designs required.
Experience in a self-service BI Reporting development environment, Qlikview, Teradata and SQL Server, BI tool architectures, functions, and features are required.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
Master’s degree with healthcare technical focus desired.
5 years data/process/analysis experience preferred.
3 years healthcare experience preferred.
Familiarity with clinical or operational data within a healthcare system desired.
Significant SSRS and Qlikview experience desired, including working with the tools’ architectures, functions and features.
Preferred working knowledge of the health care industry, applications, clinical workflow issues, regulatory compliance and federal mandates preferred.
Ability to communicate and facilitate topics clearly and effectively across department lines; working inside peer groups and receiving guidance from supervisor.
