We are seeking a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.) Program Coordinator for Methodist Hospital – Specialty & Transplant.  The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Coordinator is a Registered nurse who is responsible for the overall coordination and supervision of operations of the SANE Program.  This includes program development, marketing, community education, and supervision of the SANE staff.  The coordinator works under the direction of the Emergency Center Physician/SANE Medical Director. What You Will Do In Your Role:

  •  Coordinates daily operations of all Forensic Nursing Services for MHS.
  • Plans, implements and develops policies and procedures pertaining to abuse/neglect/assault issues for MHS.
  • Negotiates, reviews and maintains all contracts with law enforcement agencies in which medical/forensic services are provided for throughout South Texas.
  • Manages Program’s budget, is responsible for department billing to law enforcement agencies that medical/forensic service has been provided for.
  • Maintain forensic records separate from general medical records as custodian of records due to nature of records and make records available for appropriate requestors.
  • Supervises personnel to include hiring, firing, interviewing, work allocation, orientation, training and staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance.


What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing. Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Minimum License and Certificates Required:
    • Current License to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas; 
    • Completion and Certification as SANE by the Texas Office of the Attorney General.
    • International Certification from the International Association of Forensic Nurses through testing and currency of practice.
