We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator to join our team who will be responsible for supervising pharmacy technicians including scheduling, work assignments, orientation, training, and evaluation of employees. He or she develops and implements strategies to optimize performance and departmental operations. The coordinator manages the day-to-day activities of the department’s technical staff, and provides leadership and direction for the entire pharmacy technical staff and participates in total quality management of the distributive functions of the department.
What you will do in this position:
  • Recruits, hires, trains, coaches, and evaluates pharmacy technician staff; applies progressive discipline when appropriate; participates in hiring and termination procedures within span of control
  • Schedules and assigns daily work assignments for pharmacy technician staff; coordinates orientation and training on all applicable areas of responsibility; complies with all requirements of employment (license/certification, orientation, annual education, vaccine preventable diseases/annual flu requirements)
  • Develops and monitors capital, operating, and staffing budgets in collaboration with pharmacy director and site managers; maintains statistical information for department operations
  • Oversees assigned areas for compliance with completion and documentation of quality monitors and compliance with state and federal regulations.  Serves as a resource to assure compliance with department policies and state and federal regulations including the use of aseptic techniques and hazardous substance handling; serves as a resource to coworkers in procuring pharmaceuticals and supplies
  • Implements and enforces policies and procedures and recommends operational improvements
  • Engages in problem solving and communication with physicians, staff, and other departments regarding equipment, supplies, policies, and procedures
  • Coordinates and monitors inventory, which includes cost analysis, ordering of supplies as needed, and developing and implementing procedure for charging purposes; assists in evaluating products and coordinates the maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment
  • Performs duties related to controlled substance monitoring; ensures compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations regarding controlled substances
  • Ensures compliance with HCA policies and procedures relative to controlled substance monitoring
  • Maintains competency in all pharmacy technician activities and performs technician duties when needed



  • High School diploma or equivalent
What qualifications you will need: ONE of the following:
  • Minimum of 3 years inpatient hospital experience
  • Associates or Bachelor degree preferred
  • 6 months personnel management experience preferred.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
License, Certificates or Registrations Required:
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy and ASCPE or ASHP compounded Sterile Products Certification
