We are seeking a Pharmacy Purchasing Coordinator to join our team who will perform all duties necessary to execute the purchasing and receiving procedures for the department; coordinating purchases to ensure accurate repackaging, barcoding and patient safety; placing orders directly to manufacturers and distributors; and processing documents related to the orders. Handles appointments for sales representatives, processes manufacture recalls and out of date returns. He/she completes necessary research to obtain new and unavailable drugs. Coordinates physical inventory counts, maintains inventory and creates stock levels.
 
 
What you will do in this position:
  • Places orders of drug supplies for the department and processes those orders using a purchase order system. Has authority to routinely order medications and supplies for the department.
  • Maintains departmental records, which pertain to product cost, purchasing, ordering, issuing, and intradepartmental charging. Verifies and corrects prices in preparation for submitting invoices and purchase orders for approval for payment. Works closely with Finance Department to resolve any invoice or payment discrepancies.
  • Completes monthly purchasing reports; tracks contract compliance, rebates and credits; and issues reports to floors and departments.
  • Assists in maintaining quality control of products/equipment received and oversees the corrections and deficiencies of products/equipment from manufacturers and distributors. Assures that expired drug supplies are returned to the manufacturer, distributor or a return goods vendor. Processes drug recalls promptly as directed by the manufacturer or distributor.
  • Meets with vendors to review new products, obtain pricing information, resolve invoice discrepancies, and to review service levels.
  • Maintains inventory stock (par) levels for all products. Maintains storage areas for orderliness, cleanliness, safety, out dates and environment of care.

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
What qualifications you will need: ONE of the following:
  • 1 year experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • 2 years experience in a pharmacy purchasing position
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or five years of experience in purchasing function preferred.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
 
License, Certificates or Registrations Required:
  • Current Registered Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
