We are seeking a Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) Coordinator to join our team who will oversee the maintenance, management and development of the Pharmacy computer system, databases, test dictionaries and interfaces with Information Systems.  Ensures the PIS and associated equipment is operational at all times for multiple site facilities. 
 
What you will do in this role
  • Monitors hardware and software systems using operating systems utilities and serves as the department representative to the IS Department for PIS technical support. 
  • Develops policies and procedures for implementation, downtime procedures and daily operation of the computer system. Assigns appropriate access to PIS for new users.
  • Troubleshoots and documents both technical and application problems, and communicates problems to the Director of Pharmacy and the IS Department. Assists in the care and maintenance of department computer equipment; repairs or calls for in-house or contracted maintenance and documents all maintenance communications.
  • Builds, maintains, updates and supports the pharmacy system database files as determined by the computer software; supervises the maintenance and updates all drug master files as necessary to ensure the most accurate and current information possible. Coordinates the market-wide maintenance of the drug billing files.
  • Coordinates all education and training of existing pharmacy personnel; formulates a training/in-service program for use in orientation of new pharmacy employees. Conducts follow-up teaching to ensure technical proficiency with the pharmacy computer system.
  • Creates and runs customized Meditech NPR reports and maintains schedule for routine automatic reports. 

 

Qualifications

What qualifications you will need
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of computer related experience (operating PC, database management) 
  • Must learn necessary pharmacy specific computer systems within six months of hire.
 
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
 
License, Certificates or Registrations Required:
  • Current Registered Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
