Seeking an Echo Tech, Lead who will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of work in the Cardiac Ultrasound Department including efficient work flow in the department; the supervision, instruction and assignment of the work of the employees within the department and ensuring the highest level of care administered to all patients. Performs echocardiograms, carotids, and other related examinations according to established standards and practices at a high technical level.

 

What you will do in this role:

1. Provides supervision, evaluates, oversees instruction and assignment of the work of the employees within the department; ensuring the highest level of care is given to all patients.

2. Demonstrates technical proficiency for adult echocardiograms. Performs 2-D, M-mode, color Doppler, pulsed wave Doppler, and continuous wave Doppler. This includes all measurements as needed for a complete study to include parasternal long axis, parasternal short axis, apical 4-chamber, apical long axis, and apical 2-chamber, and subcostal 4-chamber view. Utilizes critical thinking skills to assess the patient condition to provide any additional views that will assist the cardiologist in the care/treatment of the patient.

3. Demonstrates technical proficiency for TEEs. Ensures that all consent forms are signed and that education of patient and/or family members has occurred. Sets up equipment and all supplies. Assists cardiologist with probe insertion as directed. After probe placement, tapes all data as requested. Upon completion of procedure, immediately cleans and disinfects probe according to departmental policy.

4. Assists with head up tilt table testing. Responsible for patient preparation to include compliance with NPO, patient transport, placement of electrodes, placement of blood pressure cuff and presence of a patent saline lock. If continuous monitoring is required, secures the use of EKG monitoring equipment. If labs are required, arranges for blood drawing. Remains with patient at all times and offers assistance under the direction of a RN.

5. Demonstrates technical proficiency for stress echo (exercise and chemical). Performs 2-D imaging at the highest level for the evaluation of wall motion abnormalities. Stress images will include P-LAX, P-SAX, apical 4-chamber, and apical 2-chamber.

6. Demonstrates technical proficiency at carotid imaging. Obtains images of the common carotid, bulb, internal and external carotids with color doppler and pulsed wave doppler. Provides measurements as necessary for a complete evaluation of both right and left carotids.


Minimum Education and Experience:

1. Preferred candidate would be a graduate of an AMA or ARDMS approved school of cardiac ultrasound.

2. Minimum of one-year experience in a hospital setting performing cardiac ultrasound procedures.

3. Candidates must be registry eligible. New hires will have a one-year grace period from their hire date to acquire at least their RCDS.

 

Minimum License and Certificates Required:

1. RCDS in adult echocardiography is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with multiple registries.

2. CPR Certificate.
