Your Role: Bariatric Behavioral Medicine Clinician
The Bariatric Behavioral Medicine Clinician is a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team with the role of administering assessments for pre-operative patients for mental health functioning and post-op capabilities.
- Completes pre-operative biopsychosocial assessments on patients seeking bariatric surgery to ensure that mental health issues would not prohibit them from being capable of following through with post-op recommendations and follow-up requirements.
Completes follow up sessions, as indicated, for patients needing mental health support pre-or post op; provides referrals to community resources as needed.
Conducts support groups in cooperation with other team members as indicated for post-op patients.
Completes required documentation in patient’s records in a thorough and timely manner.
Communicates with team members and referral sources to coordinate services for patients as needed.
Is responsible for tracking statistics on patient progress
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field.
Experience:
- Two years’ experience in a mental health setting and experience with the Bariatric population preferred.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable)
License/Certification:
- Licensed in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) or Licensed Family Therapist
