Seeking a Molecular Pathology Technologist who is responsible for performing all aspects of testing in a clinical molecular laboratory. The technologists evaluate and introduce new material, methods, and equipment to help determine the feasibility and/or adaptability for clinical molecular studies. They assist supervisors in the development of new technologies and participate in documenting and implementing Quality Assurance (QA)/ Quality Control (QC)/Quality Inventory (QI) procedures.

The Molecular Pathology Technologist:

  • Performs routine testing, quality control, calibration, maintenance and proficiency testing in accordance with current laboratory procedures.
  • Perform complex molecular-based procedures with a high degree of quality and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Oversees inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies 
  • Performs Molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid sample preparation, PCR, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, allele specific PCR, Real time PCR, melting curve analysis, SNP detection. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports. Ability to write accurate and concise clinical documents, memos, and required correspondence. Ability to collect and analyze data using statistical methods. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory and with laboratory clients.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:

  •  Education: BS in biological sciences or related field is required
  • Experience: Minimum – one year of clinical laboratory experience in a laboratory performing high complexity testing or advanced training in a Molecular Biology program.
  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
  • Preferred: BS Degree in Medical Technology or Molecular Biology plus 2+ years experience working in a clinical molecular laboratory.


Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

  •  Required: One of the following: M,MP,MLS,CLS, MT (ASCP) certification, or other equivalent certification
  • Preferred: MP (ASCP) certification in Molecular Biology is preferred.
