Job Summary and Qualifications

We are seeking a Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS) Coordinator to join our team who will oversee the maintenance, management and development of the Pharmacy computer system, databases, test dictionaries and interfaces with Information Systems. Ensures the PIS and associated equipment is operational at all times for multiple site facilities. 

What you will do in this role

  • As a Pharmacy Information Systems Coordinator, you will monitor hardware and software systems using operating systems utilities and serve as the department representative to the IS Department for PIS technical support. 
  • You will develop policies and procedures for implementation, downtime procedures and daily operations of the computer system. You will assign appropriate access to PIS for new users.
  • You will troubleshoot and document both technical and application problems, and communicate problems to the Director of Pharmacy and the IS Department. You will assist in the care and maintenance of department computer equipment; repairs or calls for in-house or contracted maintenance and document all maintenance communications.
  • You will build, maintain, update and support the pharmacy system database files as determined by the computer software; supervise the maintenance and update all drug master files as necessary to ensure the most accurate and current information possible. You will coordinate the market-wide maintenance of the drug billing files.
  • You will coordinate all education and training of existing pharmacy personnel; formulate a training/in-service program for use in orientation of new pharmacy employees. You will conduct follow-up teaching to ensure technical proficiency with the pharmacy computer system.
  • You will create and run customized Meditech NPR reports and maintains schedule for routine automatic reports. 

What qualifications you will need

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of computer related experience (operating PC, database management) 
  • Must learn necessary pharmacy specific computer systems within six months of hire.
  • Current Registered Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
